Roombas are a great tool for cleaning the house while you’re busy. You can optimize your Roomba by making changes to your space, staying updated on its learned paths, and cleaning it regularly. Here are some tips for getting the most out of your Roomba:
Make your living space Roomba friendly: Everyone has clutter on the floor, but Roombas need as much clear floor space as possible to clean your floors well. Clear up any random piles of stuff you’re storing on the floor and manage any cords and wires with organizational tools.
Pay attention to where your Roomba goes: Follow your Roomba for a week or two to see how it learns your space. If there are any spots it consistently misses, see if you can rearrange the space a little to give the Roomba access to those hard to reach corners.
Ensure your space is well lit: Roombas use several cameras and sensors to map your floors. They perform okay in ambient light, but can’t clean in total darkness. If you’re using your Roomba mostly at night, make sure you leave a light or two on to allow it to perform well.
Clean your Roomba regularly: The Roombas dust trap should be emptied after every cleaning cycle. Allowing the trap to clog up with gunk will limit your Roomba’s performance, so make sure you’re cleaning it regularly.
