I parked my car on the street last night, but it was gone when I came back to get it in the morning. How do I find out if my car was towed or stolen?

Regardless of what happened, not being able to locate your vehicle is every car owner’s nightmare.
- Contact the local police department—The police will be a great resource for figuring out what happened to your vehicle and can start filing a report immediately if your car was, in fact, stolen.
- Check the immediate area for towing signs—Look around the area where you parked for towing enforcement signs. They will normally have the name and number of the local towing company that manages the area and you can call them for information about your vehicle.
- Find alternative transportation—While you wait for more information about your vehicle, start planning for the immediate future by finding temporary transportation. Even if your car was towed, you still need a ride to the towing company’s lot.
