Should I rent a car in Seattle or take an Uber?

I’m heading to Seattle for a business trip and bringing the family along to enjoy the city. We are flying into SEA Airport. From there, will we need to rent a car, or will we be able to navigate the city using an Uber?

Seattle is a beautiful city with plenty of family-friendly attractions to enjoy! Generally speaking, there is no need to rent a car to navigate the city. The majority of Seattle’s major attractions can be reached via public transportation, or by calling an Uber.
Here are a few reasons why you don’t need to rent a car in Seattle:
  • The Link Light rail system connects downtown Seattle and the SEA airport with trams running every six to ten minutes daily.
  • Most of Seattle’s big-name attractions, like Pike Place Market are within a one-mile radius of downtown, making the city remarkably walkable, especially when the weather is nice.
  • For more far-flung destinations like Mt. Rainier, there are a plethora of tour companies that can transport you for prices much cheaper than that of a daily car rental.
  • You can request an Uber up to 30 days in advance of your trip to Seattle, making it a great alternative to renting a car.
