Should I rent a car in Miami?

I’m going to Miami for a business trip but I want to see the sites in my off time. Should I rent a car in Miami?

You don’t need to rent a car in
Miami
if all the sites you plan on seeing are in the city center. Instead, you can easily get around using Miami-Dade County’s public transportation system which includes:
  • Rail lines
  • Buses
  • The Metrorail—the city’s high-speed commuter train connecting downtown Miami to the suburbs to the south
The Metrorail is a quick, convenient, and affordable option—the fee is only $2.00—that runs daily from 6 am to midnight.
Renting a car may be the most convenient option, however, if you’re staying outside the city center or plan to venture out to other nearby sites like
Fort Lauderdale
or the Everglades National Park. To rent a car in Miami, you must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver’s license. However, drivers under the age of 25 may be charged an extra fee for their rental car.
