Should I do my own car maintenance to save money?

I'm a thrifty person, so I love saving money whenever I can. Even if I don't know much about cars, should I still do my own car maintenance?

It makes sense that you’re looking to save money, but depending on what you need done, doing your own car maintenance may not be the best way to save money if you’re not an experienced mechanic.
That said, basic repairs—like oil changes, checking tire pressure, changing power steering fluid and brake fluid, or swapping out the air filter—are certainly doable on your own. You can also repair small dents and dings on your own. If you’re not sure where to start, there are plenty of DIY videos on Youtube to help you out.
Keep in mind that you should only do maintenance for novice mechanics. More advanced repairs should be left to professionals. In fact, you could end up spending more money if you attempt a repair and then need to get it fixed.
You can also save money by switching your
