Should I add an umbrella policy to my home insurance?

I'm buying my first home and I know very little about home insurance. I've heard that adding an umbrella policy is a good choice. Should I add this to my home insurance policy?

“An umbrella policy is a type of liability insurance that extends the coverage of your home insurance or
car insurance
policy.
Umbrella policies cover claims after your original policy’s coverage has been exhausted. It also covers claims that your original policy may exclude.
For your home, this can be a lifesaver if your original policy doesn’t cover 100% of the damage of a particular scenario. The best part is that it’s relatively affordable in addition to your base homeowner’s policy.
You can check with your current home insurance company to see if they offer umbrella coverage. Companies like
Travelers
and
GEICO
are known to offer umbrella policies.”
