Should electric cars be mandatory?

I personally love driving an electric car, but I know plenty of holdouts who don’t trust them. If we want everyone to get on board with electric cars, should they be mandatory?

While there may not be legislation to make electric cars mandatory in every part of the U.S., lawmakers and automakers alike are trying to phase out the production of gas-powered cars.
Canada plans to phase out gas and diesel-fueled cars within the next 14 years, while the U.S. has set a federal target for 2040.
Many European countries also have plans to ban the production of new gas-powered cars over the next 10 to 20 years.
