Will my insurance cover me if my car is parked in front of my house facing the wrong direction?

While you may get a
for parking facing the wrong direction, you should still be covered for damages if you have the right kind of policy. That said, the right insurance depends on whether you traded information with the at-fault driver.
In almost every state, drivers are required to carry
liability coverage
, which helps them pay for injuries or damages they inflict on other people or their property. As a result, the other driver’s insurance will likely pay for the damage to your car. Unfortunately, this only applies if the driver leaves their information.
If the driver does not leave their information, your insurance will only cover you if you have
uninsured motorist coverage
. This type of policy usually protects you when the other driver doesn’t have insurance, but it can also apply to hit-and-runs since they’re equivalent to being hit by a driver without insurance.
In short, your insurance would cover the damage if you have uninsured motorist coverage. And the other driver’s insurance would cover the damage if they were to stop and trade information. To make sure you’re covered in either case, use
to find an affordable uninsured motorist policy.
