Is there a way to get backdated car insurance?

I was thinking about adding collision to my car insurance policy but never did. Last week, I was involved in an accident, and boy do I wish I had that coverage now! Is there a way to get backdated car insurance so that I can be covered

I am sorry to hear that happened to you!
Unfortunately, backdated coverage is often avoided by
car insurance
companies as it entails a false statement: that your vehicle was covered when it wasn’t.
In some special circumstances, backdated insurance may be permitted. New vehicle purchases can be backdated up to seven days, depending on the company. In general, coverage changes are usually effective the day of or day after contacting the insurance provider.
Keep in mind: If you are found not at fault, the other driver will pay to repair your vehicle with their
property damage liability
Whether or not you’ll be covered for this accident, we recommend updating your policy with comprehensive and collision coverage to coverage any accidents that might occur in the future.
