Is there a car that is electric and gas?

I often worry about my vehicle running out of range whenever I consider getting an electric car. I need another alternative. Is there a car that runs on both electric and gas?

Range anxiety is a common concern for many people wanting to own an electric vehicle. For people who want the comfort of both a gas engine and an electric motor, you can opt for a hybrid car.
Hybrid
refers to any vehicle that combines a gas or diesel engine with an electric motor to improve fuel economy.
Types of Hybrids
  • Mild Hybrids are the simplest of the bunch. These hybrids use a combination of a gas engine and a low-voltage electric motor. However, mild hybrids never run on one or the other.
  • Full Hybrids can run on either the combustion engine alone or on the electric motor for short periods of time. The electric motors carry a power of 100-300 volts.
  • Series Hybrids are plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. They can handle driving in a fully electric mode for 40-80km. Series hybrids are perfect for people that take short commutes around the city.
