My brake hold light on my car keeps coming on and I have no idea why. Is there a brake hold system problem with the 2018 Honda Civic?

Currently, there doesn’t seem to be a widespread 2018 Honda Civic brake hold system problem, but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible for your own to experience an issue.
The 2018 Honda Civic’s automatic brake hold feature is designed to keep your brakes activated in traffic so you don’t have to constantly press your foot to the brake pedal. When traffic resumes, the brake hold feature releases once you hit the gas pedal.
To date, there have been four recalls issued for the 2018 Honda Civic to date, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website, but none are related to a brake hold system problem. However, it never hurts to periodically check back for updates or other recalls.
It sounds like you’re saying that your brake hold light is on to show it’s active without you pushing the button to activate it. And if you’re driving forward while the feature is still supposedly activated, that could suggest it’s not able to properly activate, or that an electrical problem is causing the light to turn on necessarily.
All these scenarios would be significant causes for concern. It would be best to take your vehicle to a certified mechanic so they can make sure your brake hold feature and the electric parking brake on your 2018 Honda Civic are in good working order—or diagnose the problem and find a proper fix.
