Is the Jaguar extended warranty worth it?

I’m going to buy a new Jaguar, and the salesman keeps pushing for an extended warranty. I’ve heard bad things about how extended warranties are a waste of money, but I also know how much imports are to repair. Is it worth my money to buy a Jaguar extended warranty?

Whether or not you should buy a Jaguar extended warranty is entirely a matter of preference and your current financial situation. You may want to buy an extended warranty if:
  • You plan on owning the car beyond the 5-year, 60,000-mile new car warranty from Jaguar.
  • You can’t afford to pay for major repairs.
  • You have little disposable income or are planning to make a large purchase such as a house in the near future.
The extended warranty plans from Jaguar typically run from about $2,500 to $5,000 depending on the model and the length of the warranty. You can always roll this into your
car loan
, but then you’d have to pay interest on it. Alternatively, you can start a repair maintenance fund and set aside some cash to pay for future repairs.
