The Infiniti Q30 isn’t an SUV or crossover at all—it’s actually a subcompact executive car.
A subcompact executive car, sometimes called a premium compact, is the smallest category of luxury cars on the market. They’re smaller and cheaper than compact executive cars and were popularized in the 2010s by European brands like Audi, Volvo, and BMW.
The Q30 is the result of a collaboration between Infiniti’s parent company, Nissan, and the German manufacturer, Mercedes-Benz. It’s built on a Mercedes-Benz A-Class platform, but its hatchback style makes it an incredibly practical subcompact option.
There is a modified version of the Q30 called the Infiniti QX30, which is a subcompact luxury crossover based on the Mercedes-Benz GLA.
