Hey there! I’ve recently purchased a new EV, and I’m looking to save a few bucks. I qualify for the federal tax credit, but I’ve heard that I can save even more. Is the charger for an electric car tax deductible?

You’re in luck! The federal government offers a tax credit for
electric car
chargers and installation. It covers:
- 30% of the costs with a maximum of $1,000 credit
- $30,000 federal tax credit for commercial installs
- You can apply for installations made as early as 2017
The government isn’t the only source that can help you save on the price of an electric car charger. You can also receive rebates from utilities. In some cases they will cover the full cost; in others, it may be just a percentage. It’s important to do your research.
