Is negligent driving a crime?

Would negligent driving be considered a crime, and would it show up on a criminal record? I’m wondering if I’ll have to list when I’m asked if I’ve ever been convicted of a crime.

Negligent driving is typically not considered a criminal offense. Instead, it’s considered a civil traffic violation, and therefore it won’t show up on your criminal record.
However, getting charged with negligent driving will still result in
points on your driving record
. Too many points on your driving record can result in a suspended license for a 12-, 24- or even 36-month period. Points will stay on your record for a different amount of time in different states, so check your state laws to learn more about the points on your record.
Negligent driving can also cause higher insurance prices. Luckily, the
