With gas prices going up, I’m tired of paying more at the pump for premium fuel. Is it okay to use 91 octane in a BRZ?

Performance vehicles like your BRZ require higher-grade fuel. It won’t hurt your engine if you use a higher grade than recommended (like 95 in an engine designed for 91).
However, you should never go below the recommended grade. In your BRZ, you should not use regular (87) or mid-grade (89-90) fuel.
If you ever forget, check the decal inside your fuel lid. It should indicate the appropriate fuel type for your vehicle.
