Is it normal to lose coverage after my dog bites another person?

"My dog bit a neighbor in my front yard. The neighbor filed a claim with my home insurance company. An agent with the company later told me that my policy won't be renewed. Is it common to lose coverage in a situation like this?

“Yes, it is very common to lose coverage after any type of
liability
claim on your home insurance. It can also be very difficult to get a new policy after a claim like this has been filed against you.
