Is it normal to lose coverage after my dog bites another person?
"My dog bit a neighbor in my front yard. The neighbor filed a claim with my home insurance company. An agent with the company later told me that my policy won't be renewed. Is it common to lose coverage in a situation like this?
“Yes, it is very common to lose coverage after any type of liability claim on your home insurance. It can also be very difficult to get a new policy after a claim like this has been filed against you.
In this type of situation, you want to make sure you are taking every step to be proactive. Make sure your dog has proper training and is not left unattended where there are others walking around. Any dog can be provoked, but it is your job as the owner to keep your pet in check. “
