Is it illegal to spend the night in your van?

Will I be ticketed for parking overnight? I have a converted campervan, and while I'm not planning on living there for any length of time, I'd like to take some trips within the state of Maine.

“In Maine, you can spend the night in the state’s rest areas without risking a ticket.
The rest areas are open 24 hours a day and they assume drivers will stay as long as they need to rest before hitting the road again.
Other areas in the state, included public and private lots, might not offer the same protections, so be wary when selecting another place to park for the night.
To protect your vehicle while on your trip, consider purchasing car insurance that includes coverage against theft.
