Is it illegal to drive with your fog lights on?

My husband and I got into an argument this morning. I had my fog lights on because it was raining and hard to see, but he said driving with your fog lights on was illegal. Is it really illegal to drive with your fog lights?

Typically, driving with your fog lights on is perfectly legal. However, your husband is partially right – there might be some instances where driving with your fog lights on can land you in some hot water with law enforcement.
Laws regarding fog lights vary a little depending on what state you’re in, but for the most part, fog lights become illegal under the following circumstances:
  • Fog lights are too high up on the front bumper
  • Fog lights are any color other than white or yellow
  • Fog lights interfere with the visibility of other drivers
  • You only have your fog lights on when headlights are also required by law
Knowing your state’s laws regarding fog lights can save you from an expensive ticket, and good car insurance can save you from a major headache in the event of an accident or other damage. If you need better
