Is it illegal to drive with a headlight out?

I noticed one of my headlights was out when I was leaving for work this morning. It’ll be dark when I drive home, but is it illegal to drive with a headlight out?

Sorry to hear about that, broken headlights are such a nuisance!
Unfortunately, yes, it is illegal to drive with one headlight out. The fundamental law in most states requires all vehicles to have and use headlights from night until morning.
You’ll have to get your headlights fixed as soon as possible to avoid being pulled over or ticketed. With any repairs and replacements that you do, you should always check with your
car insurance
provider to see if you’re covered.
