Is it illegal to drive barefoot in Indiana?

After a long day walking along the beaches of Indiana Dunes National Park, the last thing I want to do is put my sandy feet back in my tennis shoes. Can I drive barefoot in Indiana?

You’re in luck, it is not illegal to drive barefoot in
Indiana
.
Even though you won’t get a ticket, Indiana law enforcement will likely recommend that you drive with shoes. Here’s some logic for their reasoning:
  • Driving without shoes can make it more likely for your foot to slip off of the pedals.
  • Your shoes can interfere with the gas and brake pedals if taken off while driving.
  • Even if it isn’t necessarily correlated, an insurance claim can be invalidated if it’s determined that you were operating the vehicle barefoot at the time of an accident.
