Is gap insurance required in Utah?

After driving for one winter in Utah in my Corolla, I’ve decided I need to upgrade to something with all-wheel drive. I’m currently shopping for a car, but I’m not sure what insurance products I need. Does Utah legally require gap insurance?

The winters in
Utah
are something else, so a four-wheel or all-wheel drive vehicle definitely makes sense over a
Toyota Corolla
. However,
gap insurance
is not required by law in Utah, so you don’t have to budget for it per se.
However, gap insurance may make sense depending on your financial situation. Gap insurance covers the difference between your
car loan
balance and the actual cash value of your vehicle if your car is totaled. If you don’t have the cash to pay that difference, gap insurance makes sense.
If you’re going to take out a car loan in Utah, your lender will require you to get
full coverage car insurance
. While this type of policy can get expensive, you have an ally in
