Is Dale Earnhardt Jr. driving in the Daytona 500?
I saw earlier this year that Dale Earnhardt Jr. was at the Daytona 500 track doing test laps, and I got really excited that he might be coming out of retirement! Please tell me Dale Earnhardt is going to be racing in the Daytona 500 this year?

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but no, Dale Earnhardt Jr. is not driving in the Daytona 500. While many fans were delighted to see the familiar sight of Dale Earnhardt Jr. on the track doing test laps for the Daytona 500’s Next Gen car, that’s as far as it’s going to go.
The 47-year-old driver reported that he was happy to participate in the testing of the Next Gen car, but that he has no desire to race in the Daytona 500 ever again. “I’m old,” USA Today reported Earnhardt Jr saying on the second day of test runs. “I’m done taking risks.”
Fans of the popular driver will have to be satisfied with Daytona test runs, the occasional race for the Xfinity series, and Earnhardt Jr.’s work as a race analyst for NBC Sports.
