Is a Toyota Celica a good first car?

I found a Celica in great condition at a reasonable price. I’m considering buying it for my son. Is a Toyota Celica a good first car?

The
Toyota Celica
is a good first car with excellent fuel efficiency, strong reliability, and low upkeep costs. However, because
Toyota
doesn’t make the Celica anymore, it can be tricky for a first car. If the vehicle needs repair, parts can be challenging to find.
But if you want a ride that will impress and entertain, the Celica is a solid choice. It’s also compact, giving it good maneuverability through small spaces.
That said, there are a few drawbacks to consider:
  • Peppy GTS engine: For an everyday driver, you’ll want a smooth ride, which may not be found in the GTS trim. The GT, however, has less horsepower and may be more suitable for daily driving.
  • Rough on the road: Stiff suspension setup lacks comfort for long drives. This is especially uncomfortable for long trips.
  • Tight squeeze: The lack of cargo and cabin space could be an issue for some drivers.
Also, because the Celica is Toyota’s sports coupe, insurance for a teenager might be pricey. So, if fuel efficiency, safety, and upkeep costs are a big concern, it might not be the best choice for a first car.
