When it comes to eco-friendly electric cars and whether or not they truly produce zero emissions, it depends on who you ask.
While electric cars like the ones made by Tesla are defined by the U.S. Department of Energy as a zero-emission vehicle or ZEV. Other examples of zero-emission vehicles include electric trains, hydrogen-fueled vehicles, or human/animal-powered transportation such as bicycles and carriages.
Depending on where your electric power comes from, there may be greenhouse gases produced during the process of making the power itself, but your car will still be classified as a zero-emissions vehicle.
