Is a lifted Ford F150 a good idea?

There’s a guy near me selling a Ford F150 with a 4-inch lift kit installed—the truck is in good shape and the price is pretty good, but I don’t really know much about how lifting changes a vehicle. Is a lifted Ford F150 a good idea?

That’s a great question! Whether or not purchasing a lifted
Ford F150
is a good idea largely depends on how you view the pros and cons of owning a lifted vehicle—we’ll outline a few of them below.
When it comes to owning a lifted vehicle, you’ll immediately notice two things—increased vehicle handling and a better view of the road. In addition to those you improvements, you can generally count on a lifted Ford F150 to offer you the following benefits:
  • Enhanced towing capacity
  • Allows for bigger wheels
  • Easier access to the undercarriage
There are, however, a few disadvantages to a lifted Ford F150 as well—they include:
  • Higher chance of a vehicle rollover
  • Can potentially void any existing warranties
  • Worse gas mileage
If in your mind the benefits of owning a lifted vehicle outweigh the potential drawbacks, we’d say that purchasing a lifted Ford F150 is definitely a good idea.
