Is a Fiat 500 a good first car?

I’m looking to buy my first car, and I found a Fiat that looks great and is reasonably priced. Are Fiat 500s good first cars?

Buying your first car is always exciting! The
Fiat 500
 is a decent choice for a first car, with cool looks, an affordable price, and good safety ratings.
First cars should be practical, and while the Fiat 500 is small, it’s surprisingly spacious, with 30.1 cubic feet of cargo space when the rear seats are folded down. It also has a solid list of standard features, including the Uconnect infotainment system with a 5-inch touchscreen, six speakers, Bluetooth, two USB ports, and voice command. Optional features include navigation and a Beats premium audio system.
Regarding safety, the 2019 Fiat 500 was given a Good rating (the highest) in all test categories except one: small overlap front, driver-side. The NHTSA has not rated it. However, it does come with a host of safety features, including:
  • ParkSense Rear Park Assist System
  • ParkView Rear Backup Camera
  • Hill Start Assist
Given its reviews, the Fiat 500 is a decent first car, but if you’re concerned about safety and fuel efficiency, there are better options.
