“I’m so sorry to hear about your home. Flash flooding can be devastating—luckily, your flood insurance is designed to help you out of situations just like this.
If you have both building coverage and contents coverage, and the damage was a direct result of flooding, you’ll likely be covered for your home and most of your belongings.
Building coverage protects your:
Electrical and plumbing systems
Furnaces and water heaters
Refrigerators, stoves, and built-in appliances
Foundation walls, anchorage systems, and staircases
Detached garages
Fuel tanks, well water tanks and pumps, and solar energy equipment
Content coverage protects your:
Clothing, furniture, and electronic equipment
Washer and dryer
Air conditioners
Carpets not included in building coverage (carpet installed over wood floors)
Valuable items, typically up to a $2,500 value
