Great question! It’s common for spark plugs to experience damage caused by engine heat, vibrations, or other engine parts’ abrasions. To test your spark plug wires for wear, you’ll need to have 12 Volt light test handy.
Once you have your 12 Volt light tester ready, simply follow the steps below to learn how to test spark plug wires:
  • Attach the test light to an engine ground
  • Turn your engine on
  • Run the test light along each spark plug wire, looking for spark jumps
If you see a spark jump from your plug wire to the test light, it’s time you should replace your spark plug wires. Still unsure if you need to replace the wires? Not to worry! A
professional mechanic
can help you determine the next steps.
