There are many warning signs to know if your car is overheating.
A few to watch out for include:
A temperature warning light has turned on on your dashboard.
Coolant is leaking onto the ground.
Steam is emitting from under the hood.
The car is making a thumping noise.
The engine is not working at full capacity.
If your engine is overheating, get off the road and give it a chance to cool down. Don’t try and dig around under the hood right away to diagnose the issue—you can burn yourself!
Be aware that physical heat is not the only cause of overheating. Not enough lubrication in the engine, issues with the coolant system, and other malfunctions can also cause your engine to overheat.
