There is a state tax credit that you can take advantage of in Colorado. You can get the credit by submitting the appropriate forms with your tax return.
Colorado now offers a $2,500 state income tax credit for eligible light-duty electric cars purchased or leased before January 1, 2026. To receive this credit, taxpayers must file a Colorado income tax return and include all required documentation.
Forms to submit with your Colorado income tax return:
- A completed Form DR 0617
- A copy of the invoice, purchase agreement or lease agreement for the qualifying vehicle.
- A completed Form DR 0617 from the financing entity that accepts assignment of the credit.
