How to fix a bubble in your car’s tire?

I was driving in heavy snow and my car almost slid off the road. Thankfully, I was stopped when I hit the curb. But now there’s a big ugly air bubble in my tire. Is there a way I can fix this?

First off, we’re glad you’re safe! Winter accidents can get a whole lot worse than that, and they’re always terrifying even if no one gets hurt. We wish we had better news for you here, but unfortunately, a tire bubble can only be fixed by replacing the tire completely. Your best bet is to remove the tire, put on a spare, and take the damaged tire to the shop to have it replaced.
Tire bubbles occur when a tire’s inner lining is damaged. Air leaks out into the sidewall, creating that big ugly air bubble you’re seeing in your tire. It’s a tire’s version of a pimple. The only difference is that this tire’s pimple lands it in the recycling center.
It’s extremely dangerous to drive on a tire with a bubble in it. You’ll need to use a spare tire or a donut. If you don’t have that option, your car will sadly need to be towed. That tire can rupture at any moment, and that can cause you to lose control of the vehicle.
Tire bubbles are often caused by the tire taking physical damage. Hitting a curb will do it, as will hitting potholes or speed bumps while driving too fast. You can also damage your tires and cause a bubble by overloading your car with too much weight or driving with damaged tires.
