How to explain car accidents to insurance?

I got into a fender bender last weekend, and I haven't reported anything to my car insurance yet. What is the best way to explain a car accident to your insurance company?

Sorry to hear about your accident!
The best way to explain a car accident to your
car insurance
company is to be open and honest with them. Fabricating details can flag your claim for fraud or delay the settlement process.
When recalling an accident, you need to communicate the following:
  • Which vehicle was damaged
  • Driver of the vehicle
  • Geographic location and time of the accident
  • Description of accident and severity of damage
  • Name and insurance information of the other driver
  • Name and contact info of witnesses and other passengers
The agent will provide you with a claim number. Save this number, as well as the agent’s name, for your records.
