How to check car insurance validity online?

My cousin helped me get an auto policy. I should be getting a letter with my ID info soon, but I’d like to check what’s covered. Is there any way to verify an insurance policy?

It’s great you had some help getting a policy. There are ways to check your coverage before you receive your ID.
To verify your

coverage, check to see if you have an email from your provider. Often, you’ll get an email confirmation of your policy benefits, which will include your ID number. You can use that information to log in to your provider’s website and check your coverage details.
If you cannot locate any digital documentation, contact the company directly via email or phone, and ask them to email you a temporary proof of coverage.
In some states, like Oklahoma, insurance verifications can be processed through the Department of Public Safety.
If you verify through this option, you need the following information:
  • Policy number
  • VIN
  • Current insurance company
One way to keep track of your policy is to sign up for insurance with
