How to add a car to an insurance?

I'm getting ready to buy a new car for my daughter and I was wondering what I need to do to add it to my insurance policy. Do I need a new policy for her?

How exciting! As long as you and your daughter live at the same address, you’ll be able to add her car to your existing policy, even if it’s registered under her name. In order to add a car, you’ll need to contact your car insurance provider.
Generally, the process should only take a couple minutes. You’ll need to provide:
  • Your insurance policy number
  • The new car’s license plate number
  • The vehicle identification number (VIN)
  • The car’s make, model, and year
Some insurers will even allow you to add a car to your policy via their mobile app or website. Check out your insurer’s website to see if this is possible for you.
Anytime you purchase a new car, it’s a great time to shop around and see what better prices may be out there. The easiest way to do this is via the Jerry app. Jerry will collect insurance quotes for you so you can compare prices and find the cheapest coverage for you.
