How should I carry my pets when I'm driving with them in the car?

How can I protect my pets when I drive them around in my car? I have a dog and a cat and I don't like leaving them home alone when I run errands.

“To avoid getting into a collision or having to file an insurance claim on your
car insurance
, you should always keep your pets restrained and placed in the backseat or cargo area.
Dogs should be put in the cargo area of the car. If they’re in the backseat, they should have some sort of restraining device, such as a dog car seat (yes, that’s a thing). Cats should be put in a carrier, as they can jump into the front seat or your field of vision unexpectedly.
Protecting those you love–including your furry friends–means having the best car insurance. With the right coverage, you can cover damages to your vehicle or another driver’s vehicle, as well as injuries sustained as a result of an accident. Try using the
