How reliable is a Toyota Highlander?

Will I need to make a lot of repairs if I get a Toyota Highlander? I’ve been considering buying one but I’m worried that it’ll cost me more than it’s worth. I’ve had bad experiences with Toyota in the past and I don’t want to repeat them—but I do really love the Highlander!

It’s always a good idea to do your research before buying a new vehicle! The
Toyota Highlander
has decent reliability ratings and an average annual repairs cost of $489, making it an inexpensive car to own.
The frequency and severity of repairs for the Highlander are about average when compared to other vehicles—but that’s not to say that you won’t run into any issues with this car! The most common problems with the Highlander include:
  • Oil leaks
  • Airbag sensor issues
  • Transmission issues
If you do decide to purchase a Highlander, many people recommend choosing an older model, such as one from 2013. These model years are less likely to have problems than newer Highlanders, although buying a used car always requires some careful examination.
