How reliable is a rebuilt transmission?

The transmission just went out on my old car, and I’m trying to decide if I want to spend the money to have it rebuilt, or just buy a new car. Is a rebuilt transmission reliable?

Transmissions can be some of the most expensive parts of a car to repair, so it makes sense that you should ask about how reliable a rebuilt transmission is before you shell out the cash for one.
When repaired by a reputable mechanic, a rebuilt transmission is perfectly reliable. You can expect a rebuilt transmission to last about 30,000 to 50,000 miles, but if the work is done well, and you perform regular maintenance, a rebuilt transmission can last just as long as a new one, giving you anywhere from 120,000 to 150,000 additional miles.
We’d definitely recommend you shop around to find the best mechanic to perform your rebuild, and while you’re at it, why not make sure you have the best
car insurance
as well?
