How quickly does a Tesla Y battery degrade?

I know that electric vehicle batteries degrade over time. I bought my Tesla Model Y two years ago and probably should have researched more about how long the battery would last. How’s the Tesla Y battery degradation?

You are right—all lithium-ion batteries in EVs slowly lose their charging capacity over time. There are two ways the battery degrades: through age and how it’s used.
Since the
Tesla Y
hasn’t been around very long, there’s not much data to go off of. In 2020, Tesla released company data stating that the average Tesla battery should still have about 90% battery capacity after 200,000 miles of usage.
That works out to around 1% battery degradation per 20,000 miles—surprisingly good! Plus, their battery warranty guarantees against degradation past eight years, 70%, or 120,000 miles (whichever comes first). If you sell your Tesla, you can even transfer the warranty.
