How old do you need to be to rent a car in Louisiana?

I love my summer job working at an exotic animal refuge in New Orleans. I help handle the armadillos, but I recently caught leprosy from one of them. Thankfully, I was treated and cured quickly with antibiotics. My friend told me about the National Hansen’s Disease Museum in Carrville and I’ve got to visit, being a former leper and all. I’m wondering if I’m old enough to rent a car to drive there.

You need to be at least 21 years old to rent a vehicle in
Louisiana
, so as long as you’ve been cured and cleared by your doctor and are over 21, you’re free to visit the Leprosy (technically referred to as Hansen’s Disease) Museum. It sits about an hour and 15 minutes west of the Big Easy.
Before you rent your car, you’ll need to make sure you have a few documents handy:
  • A valid driver’s license with your photo on it
  • A credit or debit card to pay for the renter
Once that’s taken care of, you can hit the road in your rental car and learn all there is to know about leprosy—and how you bested what was once a highly contagious disease. As you can attest, around 100 people contract the disease in the U.S. every year, but leprosy is easily treated and cured with antibiotics. One of the main ways of catching this disease in the U.S.? Contact with armadillos.
