How old do you need to be to rent a car in Idaho?

One of my Boise State roommates and I are taking our other roommate on a birthday trip (we all turn 20 this year) to the Museum of Clean in Pocatello, which is about three and a half hours away. We love him, but his personal hygiene leaves much to be desired and we’re trying to subtly make a point. Will we be able to rent a car there?

As per Idaho's driving laws, you need to be at least 21 years of age to rent a car in
Idaho
, so you’ll either have to take the bus to the Museum of Clean in Pocatello or do a stay-cation birthday and get your roommate clean some other way.
Of course, you could always take your hygienically-challenged roommate to beautiful Lake Lowell, which is about 40 minutes west of Boise. This gorgeous lake is the perfect warm-weather birthday spot and offers swimming, boating, and fishing amidst all the natural beauty of southwest Idaho. Also, you’ll want to encourage your friend to take a birthday dip—at least the fresh water will clean him up a bit, right?
Granted, you’ll have to get to Lake Lowell, and since you can’t rent a car yet, try the bus, or get one of your parents to drive you. If you can drive one of your parents’ cars to Lake Lowell, be sure you are listed as a secondary or occasional driver on their
car insurance
plan.
