How old do you have to be to rent a car in Mississippi?

I just moved to Mississippi and I need to rent a car for a few weeks until mine arrives. I need some help figuring out how to do this. For starters, how old do I have to be to rent a car?

Good luck in
Mississippi
! You need to be at least 21 years old to rent a car in Mississippi. If you’re between the ages of 21 and 24, though, you might have to pay a young driver surcharge to help the rental company offset the risk of renting to a young driver.
If this is your first time renting a car, here are a few things to remember:
  • Before buying additional insurance from the rental company, check with your provider to see what coverage you already have
  • You should buy the loss damage waiver when renting a car
  • Check out a few rental companies to compare prices
  • Book a refundable rate in case you need to cancel your reservation
  • Bring your own GPS and toll pass
And, of course, the best tip is to always drive as safely as possible and abide by Mississippi's driving laws.
