How often should you get your car serviced?

I just bought my first car. Although it isn’t a complete beater, it certainly isn’t the nice car on the road either. How often should cars get serviced to make sure they run smoothly and avoid issues?

One of the hardest things in car ownership is knowing how often to take your car in, so I know where you’re coming from! It’s not exactly free or convenient, but it’s something that needs to be done.
Most experts recommend you get your car on a
consistent schedule
by taking it in for a full inspection every 12,000 miles or 12 months. So basically, once a year unless you drive more than 12,000 miles.
That said, you’ll still want to get regular oil changes and fluid checks following your car manufacturer’s guidelines. Your owner’s manual should give you specifics on when to have certain aspects of your vehicle serviced.
Since you want to avoid issues on the road, another way you can protect your car is with
Jerry’s
roadside assistance program. Jerry’s membership includes jump starts, lockout service, key replacement, and towing for as low as $4.16 a month!
