How often should I replace the brake pads on my Toyota Rav4?

I’m a new Toyota Rav4 owner. I haven’t owned a car before and I’m trying to figure out a maintenance plan. How often do you need to replace brake pads on a Rav4?

Congrats on the new car! Generally, you should replace the brake pads on your
Toyota Rav4
between 30,000 and 70,000 miles. If the average person drives about 12,000 miles a year, that’d be every two to five years.
To find out what the recommended
maintenance schedule
is for your Toyota, check the owner’s manual. Most manuals will list the timeframe and recommended maintenance based on your car’s mileage.
That said, if you notice any issues with braking or find it difficult to stop, always visit a mechanic! Several different factors, including how hard or frequently you brake, can impact the lifespan of your brake pads. While these are averages, it’s always better to be safe!
Another way to keep you and your car safe is a roadside assistance membership.
