How often should I change my BMW’s oil?

This is my first year owning a BMW and I feel like I should have had to change the oil already. But no lights have come on my dash or anything. How do I know when my BMW needs an oil change?

“BMWs are designed to last anywhere from 12,000 to 15,000 miles without needing an oil change, which is roughly one driving year. On most BMW cars, a light on the instrument panel is set to remind the driver to change the oil at that point.
However, it doesn’t hurt to get your oil changed before you absolutely need to.
Changing your oil sooner than necessary can help prolong your engine’s life and performance. If this is your goal, change your oil every 7,500 to 10,000 miles, depending on your
driving habits
and climate.
Usually, short-distance commuters who live in more temperate climates can go longer. Those who live in harsher climates and drive longer distances should get their oil changed sooner.
If you’re still unsure about when to get your oil changed, speak to a mechanic or a BMW specialist for more detailed information on maintaining your specific car.
