How often do electric cars need servicing?

I just bought my first electric car. So far everything has been great, but should I have a plan for when it will eventually need servicing, and if so how often will it need to be serviced?

First of all, congrats on your first
electric car
! Many other electric car owners like yourself report that their eco-friendly ride actually requires less frequent repairs and less maintenance overall than a gas-powered car.
The good news is you will never again have to go in for an oil change, to check your transmission, or service the engine. For optimal performance, you should plan a twice-yearly service check and tire rotation.
The amount of service you get annually will depend on the type of electric car you own and how much you drive it, but with significantly fewer components than a gas-powered car, your servicing and maintenance routine should be relatively simple. The components you’ll need to maintain in an electric car include:
  • Air filters
  • Brake calipers
  • Brake fluid
  • Tire replacement, aligning, rotation and balance
