I recently discovered that my brake fluid has been leaking and I’m not sure exactly what’s causing it but I know it can’t be good. I want to get it fixed as soon as possible but I’m worried about what the bill will look like. How much would it cost to fix a brake leak?

There are typically four main causes of a brake fluid leak and the cost of repairs will depend largely on which of these is the cause. However, if you’re interested in a general estimation, you could be looking at a price tag between $150 and $750.
Depending on the cause of the leak, the price range will narrow. See the following ranges:
- A master cylinder leak will often cost around $450 to $550
- A brake line leak can run between $150 and $200
- A brake caliper leak can cost between $550 and $750
- A rear drum cylinder leak usually has a price tag between $150 and $200
