I wasn’t paying attention (I know, texting and driving is dangerous) and clipped a light pole. It damaged my front bumper and I feel a bit dumb, so I want to fix it. How much does it typically cost to fix a front bumper?

That said, fixing a bumper can cost you nothing or up to $3,000.Obviously, we’d all like the free option, though it will cost you some elbow grease and time. If you have a minor dent in your bumper, then you can use a clean plunger or a hairdryer and ice to pull the dent out. So long as you have these objects in your house, you won’t have to pay a penny.
If you scratched the paint of your bumper when you clipped the light pole, you might want to try repainting the area yourself. You would need to buy 2,000 grit sandpaper and matching paint, which can cost up to $50. Just sand, repaint, and wax the area.
If the damage is more substantial, you should take your car to a professional. They can determine if the bumper is fixable or if it needs replacement entirely. This is where repairs can get costly. Replacing a bumper can cost you between $1,000 and $3,000 depending on the make and model of your car.
