How much should I budget for car maintenance?

I'm trying to create a budget spreadsheet and realized I don't know how much I should save in case I need to repair my car. How much money should I set aside?

The amount of money you should budget for car maintenance depends on its condition. Most experts recommend budgeting at least $100 per month for the maintenance of older vehicles.
To estimate an appropriate budget for your car, collect all your service records from the last year and add the costs together. Take that figure and divide by 12 to determine the amount you should set aside for car maintenance monthly.
Of course, that’s just an estimate. You may actually spend more or less on car maintenance depending on your car’s age and how well it’s been taken care of.
