I’m buying a mini EV for my son’s birthday, and I’m not sure how to do this. I need help figuring out what to look for. How much power is needed for a toy electric car?

That’s a pretty awesome birthday gift! Electric toy cars need battery power between 6 and 24 volts.

toy cars will either have 6V, 12V, or 24V batteries. Any car that goes beyond that in voltage, like 36V or 48V, is no longer considered a toy car but is a transition vehicle. Batteries of that size are more suited for older kids and require safety equipment to operate. Thankfully, toy cars don’t require car insurance, but your vehicle certainly does.
